The AVEC network is an association made of local communities (cities, group of cities, departments, regions…) belonging to different European countries members of the European Council.

It does not count on communities offering only a remarkable heritage but on communities which are politically engaged in a sustainable development approach based on valorisation of their heritage.

 To apply to the network, a community is invited to:

 1/ Inform the association of its will of being taking part to the network by filling the “Statement of intent” form.
2/ Prepare an application form (the file is available on demand to the AVEC secretariat - amandine(at)avecnet.eu or phone : +33 6 78 41 92 37).
3/ Send the application form to the president of the association, accompanied by a deliberation stipulating the engagement of your community to pay its annual contribution to the Alliance of European Cultural Cities.

To become a member of the Alliance of European Cultural Cities, you must meet the following criteria: 
- to be a city or territory situated in a European country. 
- decide to get involved in the  Qualicities approach which translates the charter of the AVEC network and he values and objectives of its members,
- to be available to regularly participate to cooperation activities and network meetings,
- to pay the annual fee,

Selection procedure is the following: 

Analyse of the application and decision made by the association Bureau after reception of the application. 

The application is definitely validated once the decision made by members of bureau and the applicant will be introduced to the members daring General Assembly (March or April).
