The Holy Miracle procession in Santarém

The 761 procession of the Holy Miracle gathered hundreds of people in the streets of the historical center of Santarém.

This great celebration began in the morning with the veneration of the Holy Sacrament at 11:00.
Then a mass was given followed by a procession around the main streets of the historical centre of Santarém.
Once back into the church, a closing ceremony was given by Priest Manuel Borges and the archbishop of Santarém.

The Holy Miracle sanctuary is a cult centre and one of the most visited pilgrimages in Portugal.
The sacrament of the Holy Miracle is the living memory of the transformation of the host into blood in the XIII century.
Pilgrims from all over the world are coming to prove their devotion. They come from Ireland, USA, Philippines, Poland, Brazil, England, Spain, Italy and Portugal of course.
